Today, September 14, 2017 is recognized as Anti-Bullying day. Our students and staff made a strong showing to wear pink and red in recognition of the important work that needs to occur in this area collaboratively as schools, families and communities. At 10:00 a.m. today, our staff and students in solidarity with other schools across the board and province, gathered and took a picture to draw awareness. You can see our collaborative efforts and join in now and in the future with the hashtag of #togetherSSRSB
Today staff also wore pink “Together: against bullying” buttons. The 1600 plus buttons where produced and organized in partnership with students in the Options and Opportunities programs. Thanks to Beth Woodford-Collins for coordinating the production of the pins and the O2 teachers for tackling the project.
Our school also received posters and postcards about working together against bullying in our community; these postcards were sent home to parents/guardians.
While indeed there are many resources to help educate and draw awareness to preventative measures regarding bullying, this is one that I strongly recommend www.antibullying.novascotia.ca. I encourage you to support the important work in this area by taking a collaborative view of solving the problem and having conversations with you children.
